What is a contract labor category?

You can use contract labor categories as alternatives to cost elements. Here are some situations where you might find labor categories useful:

• when contracts require an employee or an element of labor to be invoiced under a title or category rather than your pre-defined, standard company cost elements

• for direct, contract-related expenses when the contract calls for specific labor invoicing set by the customer

• for creating billing rates

• for revenue recognition

• for printing descriptions or sorting when you run reports

Note: Contract labor categories do not replace cost elements when you record or post to JAMIS.

You maintain labor categories in a series of category tables. The same labor category cannot exist in more than one table.
