Changing contract labor categories

Once you’ve created a contract labor category, you cannot change the table or the category code, but you can change the description if you wish.

On the Labor Category Mapping screen, Labor Category (user-defined label) is the only field that you can change for a mapped record, but we do not recommend that you alter it. Instead, leave the mapped record as it is and create a new record with a different effective date.

To change a contract labor category

  1. From the JAMIS Administration home page > Setup tab, under Master Files, click Contract labor categories. Or, from the top of any JAMIS Administration screen, click Master Files > Contract Labor Categories. The Labor Categories screen appears.

  2. In the Filters section, enter one or more search criteria for the labor category that you want to change. Your filter choices are: labor category table, labor category code, description.

    Hints:
You can enter partial information in a filter field, such as 1 to retrieve all labor categories that begin with 1, or %1 to retrieve all labor categories that contain the number 1. You can leave all filter fields blank to retrieve all labor categories.

  3. Click Retrieve to list labor category records that match the criteria you entered. The results appear in the bottom section of the screen.

  4. If needed, scroll to find the labor category that you want to change. JAMIS displays the records in ascending order by labor category table. You can sort the list differently by clicking the appropriate column heading once or twice.

  5. Click Edit to the left of the labor category that you want to change. JAMIS makes the Description field editable.

  6. Change the description for the labor category.

  7. Click Update to commit your changes to the labor category data.

  8. Repeat the appropriate steps as needed to change data for additional labor categories.

Note that while editing a labor category, if you haven’t clicked Update yet, you can click Cancel to undo any changes that you’ve made to the record.
