Changing budgets

You cannot change the job number, cost element, labor category, or employee for a budget record, but you can change the hours budgeted if needed. You also have the option of manually changing the hours remaining for the budget.

If you need to change any of the code fields for a budget, then you must create a new budget.

Follow these steps to change the hours in a budget.

To change a budget

  1. From the JAMIS Administration home page > Setup tab, under Master Files, click Budgets. Or, from the top of any JAMIS Administration screen, click Master Files > Budgets. The Budgets screen appears.

  2. In the Filters section, enter one or more search criteria for the budget that you want to change. Your filter choices are: job number, cost element, labor category, employee.

    Hints:
You can enter partial information in a filter field, such as 1 to retrieve budgets for all job numbers that begin with 1, or %1 to retrieve budgets for all job numbers that contain the number 1. You can leave all filter fields blank to retrieve all budgets.

  3. Click Retrieve to list budget records that match the criteria you entered. The results appear in the bottom section of the screen.

  4. If needed, scroll to find the budget that you want to change. JAMIS displays the records in ascending order by job number. You can sort the list differently by clicking the appropriate column heading once or twice.

  5. Click Edit to the left of the budget that you want to change. JAMIS makes the Hours Budgeted field editable.

  6. Change the hours budgeted if needed.

  7. If you need to manually change the budget's hours remaining, click Adjust to the right of the Hours Remaining field. This makes the field editable for you to change.

  8. Click Update to commit your changes to the budget data.

  9. Repeat the appropriate steps as needed to change data for additional budgets.

Note that while editing a budget, if you haven’t clicked Update yet, you can click Cancel to undo any changes that you’ve made to the record.
